Bulletproof Coconut Coffee – My Morning Upgrade
This post is for all the coffee lovers out there!
There has been much discussion about the benefits versus drawbacks of drinking this wonderful, black, aromatic liquid.
I have done some research and found that drinking organic coffee can have many astounding benefits, such as:
Reduces the risk of kidney stones
Treats asthma and headaches
Reduces work out pain
Lowers depression risk
Helps prevent skin cancer
Reduces risk of Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s
On the other hand, some of the drawbacks that come with drinking and overconsuming coffee include:
Changes in sleep patterns
Lowers absorption of certain minerals and vitamins, such as magnesium, zinc, and iron
Contributes to high blood pressure
As a mild diuretic, it can contribute to dehydration and loss of vitamin B and C
Can worsen heart burn
Can lead to anxiety and addiction
In my personal view, coffee is one of the simple life pleasures that comes with some great benefits. As long as you stick to a good quality, organic, fair-trade coffee and drink no more than 1-2 (preferably just 1) cups of it a day, you should be golden and happy.
I start my morning with my own version of Bulletproof Coconut Coffee as an awesome upgrade to my morning (and a kick in a butt). Here is how:
For 1 Cup You Will Need:
organic dark roasted coffee
a drop of organic coconut milk or coconut coffee creamer (depending on how creamy you like your coffee)
1 Tbsp. coconut oil
few drops of stevia (about 4 or 5 is typically sweet enough for me)
Make your coffee as usual
Combine your coffee and all the other ingredients in a blender and mix it for 30 sec.
Pour into your favorite coffee mug and sprinkle cinnamon on top
Why coconut? Among other benefits, the medium chain saturated fat will boost your metabolism, improve immunity, lubricate your joints, and fight dry skin.
On most days, I would love to have another cup in the afternoon, but that is my time to go for my Super Matcha Tea.
