Green Matcha Super Tea
Green Matcha Tea is certainly one of my favorite energy boosting, warm beverages. It takes a bit more effort to make than a cup of coffee for example, but the benefits are so worth the extra effort.
The straight, stoneground tea leaves of matcha provide you with powerful arsenal of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and amino acids. According to research, some of the benefits of drinking matcha include improved mental alertness and clarity, stronger immune defense and detoxification. The tea also promotes relaxation and contributes beneficially in prevention and treatment of various medical conditions including bacterial, fungal and viral infections, cancer, and type-2 diabetes. It also assists in maintaining cardiovascular health, gastrointestinal health and works as a superb energy booster. And it tastes awesome!!!
So now, that you have some knowledge and therefore power to make good choices, here is the recipe:
For 1 serving, you will need:
1 cup filtered hot water
1/2 to 1 tsp. matcha green tea
1 tsp. coconut oil
2-3 Tbl of half-half (or coconut milk if dairy free)
about 5 drops of Stevia (vanilla flavored is great for this)
Boil the water and milk in a small sauce pan
Add matcha tea and mixed in well
Pour the liquid into a blender
Add coconut oil and stevia
Blend for 30 seconds
This recipe is a slightly modified version of the one I got from my wonderful functional medicine doctor, Dr. David Jockers. You can check out his website here.
